Ayrshire College bids a fond farewell to Fiona McQueen, Chair of the Board of Management, as she left her role on 30 June 2025 to take up an exciting new role as Chair of the Scottish Police Authority. Fiona’s tenure at Ayrshire College was marked by unwavering dedication, impactful leadership, and a profound commitment to the success of the institution.

Reflecting on her time at the College, Fiona shared:

"It has been an enormous privilege to carry out the role of Chair of Ayrshire College Board of Management and be part of such an important organisation for Ayrshire.

I am proud of everything that the College has achieved through the hard work and dedication of our staff, to ensure that our students receive the best possible experience and outcomes. I wish our staff, students and Board of Management every success as the work of the College continues."

The College extends its deepest gratitude to Fiona for her remarkable contributions and wishes her every success in her new position.

To ensure a seamless transition, Sharon Morrow, a current Non-Executive Board Member, took up the role of Interim Chair of the Board of Management effective 1 July 2025. Sharon’s appointment ensures that the Board’s leadership remains strong and focused as the Scottish Government begins the recruitment process to make a permanent appointment to the position of Chair.

Sharon has been a Non-Executive Board Member of Ayrshire College for the past four years, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. During her tenure, she has served as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, Vice Chair of the Learning, Teaching and Quality Committee, and contributed to the Search and Nomination Committee. Sharon’s commitment to Board Member development and governance has been instrumental in driving forward the College’s strategic priorities.

Sharon holds an Honours Degree in Health and Social Care and is a registered nurse. Her academic achievements include a Master of Business Administration, and she has a distinguished career as a trainer, consultant, and co-owner of successful dental care businesses. Sharon’s current roles as a Non-Executive Board Member for NHS Ayrshire & Arran and The College of General Dentistry further underscore her deep understanding of governance, education, and community service.

Her passion for lifelong learning and professional development aligns closely with Ayrshire College’s mission, making her an ideal leader to guide the Board through this period of transition.

As Ayrshire College moves forward, we look forward to Sharon’s leadership and thank Fiona for her invaluable service.
